Overview
This policy covers personal software projects built and operated by Oscar Macias, including the Email Assistant project, which uses the Gmail API. These are personal, single-user tools — not a public product or service. There is exactly one user: myself. Nothing described here is offered to, or intended for, any other individual.
What Data Is Accessed
The Email Assistant connects to my own Gmail account via OAuth 2.0, using the
gmail.readonly and gmail.modify scopes. It reads message content and
metadata in my inbox, and applies Gmail labels back to those messages. It does not read,
access, or modify email belonging to anyone other than me, and it is not installed on, or
authorized against, any other Google account.
How Data Is Used
Email content is used only to:
All of this infrastructure runs in an AWS account I own and control. Email content is not sold, shared with advertisers, or used to train any third-party or publicly available model.
Data Retention & Security
Processing metadata is retained only as needed to avoid re-processing the same message and is stored in a private, access-controlled database. Access to the underlying AWS account, Slack workspace, and Google Cloud project is restricted to me. Credentials are stored in AWS Secrets Manager and are not shared with any third party.
Third-Party Services
The project uses Google's Gmail API, AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, Secrets Manager, Bedrock), and Slack's API, each under my own accounts and each governed by that provider's own privacy policy and terms.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated as the project evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
